ఇప్పుడు మనం తెలుసుకోబోయే Collocations అన్నీ నిత్య జీవితంలో విరివిగా వాడగలిగేవే. ఉదాహరణకు strong తీసుకుందాం... 'బలమైన' అని అర్థం కదా! మామూలుగా అయితే "strong"చాలా మాటలతో కలుస్తుంది. ముఖ్యంగా adjectives (గుణాలను తెలిపే మాటలతో), ఆవిధంగా adjectives తెలిపే గుణాలు బలంగా ఉన్నాయని అర్థం.Kishore: I don't see why you should have such a strong dislike for Kiran. As far as I can see, he is quite a nice guy.
(కిరణ్ అంటే నీకంత అయిష్టత ఎందుకో నాకర్థం కావడంలేదు. నావరకు అతడు చాలా మంచివాడు)
Ravindra: He, a nice guy? You must be out of your senses to say that about Kiran. Acting on a tip off the police are about to arrest his uncle. He has cheated a number of people.(అతడు, మంచివాడా? కిరణ్ గురించి అలా అన్నావంటే నీకు మతిస్థిమితం లేనట్టే. ఎవరో ఇచ్చిన సంకేతాల ఆధారంగా పోలీసులు అతడి మామయ్యను అదుపులోకి తీసుకోబోతున్నారు. అతడు చాలా మందిని మోసం చేశాడు.)
Kishore: You are out of your mind to say so. His uncle being a cheat is no reason, why you should sever connections with him. (అలా అనడం నీకు మతిపోయిందనిపిస్తోంది. అతడి మామయ్య మోసగాడవడం, నువ్వు అతడితో సంబంధాలు తెంచుకోవడానికి కారణమవ దు కదా!)
Ravindra: What do you know? He has a shady past too. He is strongly influenced by his uncle. I don't see what you find in him to recommend him so highly.(నీకేం తెలుసు? ఇతడి గతం కూడా చీకటే. అతడి మామ అతడిని ఎక్కువగా ప్రభావితం చేస్తాడు. అతడి గురించి అంతగా మాట్లాడ్డానికి అతడిలో నీకేం కనిపిస్తోందో నాకర్థం కావడం లేదు.)
Kishore: Not many agree with you. Very few use such a strong language as you do, when it's him. What a great singer Kiran is! The minute he goes up the stage and starts singing, he holds his audience spell bound.(నీతో ఏకీభవించేవాళ్లు ఎక్కువమంది లేరు. అతడి గురించి మాట్లాడేటప్పుడు నీ అంత కఠినంగా ఎవరూ మాట్లాడరు. కిరణ్ ఎంత గొప్ప గాయకుడు! వేదిక ఎక్కి, పాడటం మొదలుపెట్టినప్పటి నుంచి, శ్రోతలను మంత్రముగ్ధులను చేస్తాడు.)
Ravindra: Kishore, what has his singing to do with his conduct? How does his singing make him good? (అతడి సంగీతానికీ, నడవడికకూ ఏంటీ సంబంధం? సంగీతం అతడిని మంచివాడిని చేస్తుందా?)
Kishore: You said he had a shady past too. What shady deals of his do you know? (అతడి గతం కూడా చీకటే అన్నావు. అతడి మోసపూరిత లావాదేవీలు నీకేం తెలుసు?)
Ravindra: Why ask me? Ask Chandra his cousin. He has information about him. (నన్నెందుకు అడగటం? చంద్రాన్ని అడుగు. వాళ్లకు సంబంధించిన సమాచారం అతడి దగ్గర బాగా ఉంది.)
Kishore: I am not convinced. I still hold him to be honest. (నాకది నమ్మకం కలగడం లేదు. నాకు అతడు నిజాయితీపరుడనే అభిప్రాయమే ఉంది.)
Ravindra: Let me hold my opinion too. Don't try to convince me. (నా అభిప్రాయం నాకు ఉండనీ. నన్ను ఒప్పించాలని ప్రయత్నించకు.)
Kishore: OK. We agree to disagree. (సరే ఒప్పుకోకుండా ఉండాలని అంగీకరిగద్దాం మరి.)
Look at the following expressions from the conversation above:

Strong dislike - బలమైన అయిష్టత Strong belief - బలమైన నమ్మకం
Strong support - బలమైన మద్దతు
Strong foundation - గట్టి పునాది
Strong argument (బలమైన వాదం) × Weak argument (పసలేనివాదం)
ఈవిధంగా daily languageలో strong చాలా మాటలతో collocate అవుతుంది.

Using strong language = అసభ్య పదజాలం వాడటం/ దూషణ పదాలు ఎక్కువగా వాడటం
I object to your using such strong language = అలాంటి బూతు పదాలను నేను ఆక్షేపిస్తున్నా.ఇలా strong చాలా మాటలతో చాలా సందర్భాల్లో కలుస్తుంది.

Acting on a tip off:Tip off = నేరాలూ, నేరస్థుల గురించిన సమాచారం/ అలాంటి సమాచారాన్ని పోలీసులకు అందించడం. ఈ 'tip off'కు ముందు ఎప్పుడూ 'Acting' వస్తుంది. తమకు అందిన సమాచారంతో చర్యకు 'పూనుకొని' అనే అర్థంతో.a) Acting on a tip off the bomb squad searched the bus stand = తమకు అందిన సమాచారంతో బాంబు తనిఖీ బృందం బస్టాండును గాలించింది.
b) Though they had the warning, the police did not act on the tip off = సమాచారం అందినా, పోలీసులు చర్య తీసుకోలేదు.
Shady = మోసంతో కూడిన. ముఖ్యంగా దీన్ని 'నేర చరిత్ర ఉన్న' అనే అర్థంతో వాడతారు.'Shady' ఈ అర్థంతో ఎక్కువగా past (గతం)/ activities (కార్యకలాపాలు)/ deals (లావాదేవీలు/ వ్యవహారాలు)తో ఎక్కువ collocate అవుతుంది.a) The CBI is investigating the shady deals of the former telecom Minister Raja =
టెలికాం మాజీ మంత్రి రాజా అనుమానాస్పద లావాదేవీల గురించి సీబీఐ దర్యాప్తు చేస్తోంది.

'What an achievement! No wonder, however, with most of the politicians and officials having a shady past' (ఎంత ఘనత! అయితే అందులో ఆశ్చర్యం లేదు. ఎక్కువ మంది రాజకీయవాదుల, అధికారుల గతాలు అనుమానాస్పదమే అవడంతో)

Recommend highly = ఘనంగా/ గొప్పగా సిఫారసు చేయడం/ చాలా గొప్ప కితాబివ్వడం.a) I've read a review of the movie in one of the newspapers. It recommends the movie highly = ఆ చిత్రం సమీక్షను ఒక పత్రికలో చదివాను. ఆ సమీక్షలో ఆ చిత్రాన్ని చాలా పొగిడారు/ గొప్ప కితాబిచ్చారు
b) I highly recommend the doctor to you. He is very good at diagnosis =
ఆ డాక్టరు గురించి నేను గొప్పగా చెబుతున్నా.. వ్యాధిని నిర్ధరించడం గురించి అతడికి బాగా తెలుసు.Recommend thoroughly (పూర్తిగా/ క్షుణ్ణంగా)
whole heartedly (మనస్ఫూర్తిగా)/ Unreservedly (నిస్సంకోచంగా) అనే collocations కూడా వాడుకలో ఉన్నాయి.
