Prabhat: How about helping Bhargav with some money? He is badly in need of some help. You know he seeks help only in dire necessity.(భార్గవ్‌కు కాస్త డబ్బు సాయం చేసే విషయం ఏమంటావు? అతనికిపుడు సహాయం చాలా అవసరం. అత్యవసరం అయినప్పుడే సాయం కోరుతాడని తెలుసు కదా?)
Pranav: Oh, sure. We should lend him a helping hand. He deserves it. As you said, only in extreme circumstances does he ask for help.
(తప్పకుండా. మనం అతనికి సాయపడాల్సిందే. అతను దానికి అర్హుడు. నువ్వన్నట్లు విపరీత పరిస్థితుల్లోనే అతను సాయం అడుగుతాడు).
Prabhat: He wouldn't have been in such a situation had it not been for his son. His attempts to move up the political ladder cost Bhargav all his hard earned savings. He has of course his property to fall back upon.
(అతనికీ తిప్పలుండేవి కావు, అతని కొడుకు వల్ల కాకపోతే. అతను రాజకీయాల్లో పైకెదగాలనే ప్రయత్నాలతోనే భార్గవ్ కూడబెట్టుకున్న సొమ్మంతా ఖర్చయిపోయింది. అయితే ఆస్తి ఉందనుకో అతడు ఆధారపడేందుకు).
Pranav: I am sure he will recover and clear all his debts. He has struck a deal with a new partner and that is going to yield some result.
(అతడు కోలుకుని అప్పులంతా తీర్చేయగలడనే నమ్మకం నాకుంది. కొత్త భాగస్థుడితో ఇప్పుడు ఒప్పందం కుదుర్చుకున్నాడు, అది ఫలితాన్నివ్వగలదు).
Prabhat: Bhargav's brother is different. All his dealings are caught up in controversies. Bhargav, on the other hand, steers clear of all controversies whatever his dealings.

Note:
1) Deserve = be fit for = అర్హత కల్గి ఉండటం.
2) extreme = విపరీతమైన/ అతి.
Look at the following expressions:
1) Dire necessity/ Dire need:
Dire = అతి తీవ్రమయిన;
Dire necessity/ Dire need = అత్యవసరమైన.
ఈ అర్థంతో 'dire' చాలా పదాలతో collocate అవుతుంది. ఇది Englishconversation లో చాలా తరచుగా వినపడే పదం.
a) The flood victims are in dire need of drinking water and shelter=వరద బాధితులకు మంచినీళ్లు, ఉండేందుకు వసతి అత్యవసర విషయాలు.
'Dire' అతి తీవ్రమైన అనే అర్థంతో, warning (హెచ్చరిక), Threat (బెదిరింపు/ ప్రమాదం)లతో కూడా వాడతాం.
The agitators did not care the dire warnings of the police =ఆందోళనకారులు పోలీసుల అతి తీవ్రమైన హెచ్చరికల్ని ఖాతరు చేయలేదు.
b) Kumar: What are you so worried about? (దేన్ని గురించి అంతగా ఆందోళనపడుతున్నావు?)
Kiran: About the warnings of the dire consequences from my opponents.
(నా ప్రత్యర్థుల నుంచి వచ్చిన అతి తీవ్రపరిణామాల హెచ్చరికల గురించి.)

(నిజమే. ఈ గది శుభ్రం చేసేందుకు కాస్త సాయపడు. అంతా కంగాళీ/చిందరవందరగా ఉంది.) Mess = గందరగోళం/ చిందరవందర.Lend an ear = (సానుభూతితో) వినడం. c) Bhavan: The position of an officer sits easy on her (అధికారిగా ఉండటం ఆమెలో ఏ అహంకారమూ కల్గించలేదు)
Balaram: She lends an ear to people in trouble = (కష్టాల్లో ఉన్నవాళ్లు చెప్పేది సానుభూతితో వింటుంది.)
పైన చూసినట్లు, lend (మామూలు అర్థం అరువివ్వడం అయినప్పటికీ), lend a hand, lend an ear లాంటి expressionsలో సాయపడటం, సానుభూతితో వినడం అనే అర్థాలతో, hand తో, earతో collocate అవుతుంది.
d) Bhushan: Did the judge believe what he said? (Judge అతడు చెప్పింది నమ్మాడా?)
Lakshman: Why not? The evidence lent colour to what he said = (ఏం? ఎందుకు నమ్మడు? సాక్ష్యాధారాలన్నీ అతడు చెప్పినదాన్ని నిజమని బలపరుస్తున్నాయి)
lend colour = ఏదైనా యదార్థమని/ సాధ్యమని అనిపించడం.
e) The presence of his brother lends colour to what has been said = అతడి తమ్ముడక్కడ ఉండటం, వాళ్లు చెప్పింది నిజం అనే విషయాన్ని తెలుపుతోంది.
Lend collocations:
1) a (helping) hand
2) Lend an ear
3) Lend colour
(మామూలుగా అరువివ్వటం అనే అర్థంతో, lend money అంటాం). ఇదే అర్థంతో lend a book/ pen/ bike/ car = ఏదయినా వాడవచ్చు.
3) Move up the ladder = నిచ్చెన ఎక్కడం. (Climb up the ladder కన్నా, move up the ladder ఎక్కువ వ్యావహారికం). అయితే move up the ladder, ఏ రంగంలోనైనా పైకి రావడం అనే అర్థంతో ఎక్కువ వాడతాం.
a) She is moving up the social ladder very fast = సమాజంలో ఆవిడ చాలా త్వరగా పైకెగబాకుతోంది.
b) With his first movie a run away success, he moved up the ladder of his career very fast = అతడి మొదటి సినిమా గొప్ప విజయం పొందడంతో అతని సినీ ప్రస్థానంలో త్వరగానే పైకొచ్చాడు.
c) Those who are corrupt and unprincipled find moving up the political ladder easy = అవినీతిపరులూ, నీతి నియమాలు లేనివాళ్ళకు రాజకీయంగా ఎదగడం చాలా సులభం.
4) Strike a deal: ఇది చాలా ఉపయోగకరమైన collocation = ఒప్పందం (deal) కుదుర్చుకోవడం (strike)
a) Pavan: They have struck a deal with each other.
(వాళ్లిద్దరూ ఒక ఒప్పందానికి వచ్చారు)
Sravan: Who? (ఎవరు?)
Pavan: Chiranjeevi and Congress. The deal is that chiranjeevi merges his party with congress, and he will get an important position
(చిరంజీవి, కాంగ్రెస్ ఒప్పందం ప్రకారం చిరంజీవీ, కాంగ్రెస్ కలిసిపోవడం, చిరంజీవికి ముఖ్యమైన పదవి రావడం.)
Sravan: Then why did he form a party at all? (అలాంటపుడు అసలు party ఎందుకు పెట్టినట్లు?)
b) China and Pak have struck a deal to corner India (చైనా, పాక్‌లు భారత్‌ను ఇబ్బంది పెట్టేందుకు ఒప్పందం కుదర్చుకున్నాయి.)
